Green terrace as an attractive element of the new apartment at the “Višňovka” project in Horoměřice

A new residential complex called “Višňovka” has been built in Horoměřice. The owner of the apartment contacted us with a request for the greening of their spacious terrace.

In just a few weeks, thanks to the warm weather and the irrigation system, the planted greenery will grow quickly and create a green and flowering space, an oasis to escape the reality of everyday life.

When we are planning green terraces, we consider the availability of sunlight, irrigation options, the selection of suitable plants, and their subsequent care.

In this case, where the client had no clear idea, Bára, our horticulturist, came up with a mix of dwarf conifers and deciduous varieties suitable for growing in plant containers. The aim was to add greenery to the immediate surroundings of the pergola for a nice view from the seating area and to slightly screen off the opposite apartment, thus deepening the sense of privacy.

The solitary red-leaved tree Prunus cerasifera ´Nigra´ was used as a dominant feature for the whole terrace. It is underplanted with a combination of lavender, grasses, and evergreen low shrubs.

The smaller square pots are planted with a pine bush and the distinctive solitary grass, Cortaderia.

The secondary dominant feature is a smaller deciduous tree in the form of an evergreen shrub, grafted into a Photinia caraway formation, with an underplanting of Penisetum alopecuroides 'Hameln'.

In other planter boxes, a mix of taller grasses Miscanthus sinensis ´Kleine Fontaine´ and the perennials Coreopsis and Salvia, are used. A targeted combination of blue and yellow flower colours and grasses are in the background.

There is also the popular evergreen bay shrub, Prunus Laurocerasus, in combination with dwarf cedar and yellow semi-evergreen Euonymus japonicus ´Emeralden Gold´.

Green terraces bring many benefits to a new home, including improved air quality, reduced temperature, and noise insulation. In addition, they create a pleasant and relaxing environment that brings its owners long-term happiness  and well-being.
